Govt extends curbs on sugar exports

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 18 October 2023
India, the second-largest sugar producer, has extended its restrictions on sugar exports to protect domestic supplies, potentially tightening the global market and raising costs for the food industry. The government will continue to limit overseas shipments of sugar beyond October 31. The restrictions were introduced due to reduced production caused by late rains, and it is uncertain what the quota will be for the next year.
