FIVE actors who rejected Kapoor & Sons

'Kapoor & Sons', a celebrated family drama directed by Shakun Batra and produced by Karan Johar, left a mark with its stellar cast including Rishi Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Fawad Khan, Alia Bhatt, and others. However, the casting for the pivotal role of Rahul Kapoor faced hurdles as several actors declined due to the character's homosexuality portrayal. According to director Shakun Batra, six actors rejected the role before Fawad Khan accepted it without hesitation. Saif Ali Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor, and Aditya Roy Kapur were among those approached, as revealed by film critic Rajeev Masand. Fawad's commitment to the character and his openness about its sexuality added depth to his portrayal, earning him praise. His performance in 'Kapoor & Sons' and subsequent collaboration with Karan Johar in 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' highlighted his versatility and professionalism in Bollywood.
