What's Next On Marvel's Release Calendar?by

Marvel really are dominating in terms of the box office lately – with Disney having raked in record takings in 2016, the Marvel Cinematic Universe looks set to expand further and further across the years – and with Spider-Man: Homecoming having pulled in brilliant reviews this week, it seems that the comic adaptation train shows no sign of slowing down – but what’s next on Marvel’s calendar for comic book fanatics to get psyched about at the box office?

Thor: Ragnarok
After months of speculation and without much of a trailer to go on, Chris Hemsworth’s Norse hammer-buster and Mark Ruffalo’s big green machine – The Hulk – return for the third movie in the Thor anthology, likely following on or parallel to the events of Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man. It’s due for release this November.

Black Panther
Following on from Thor 3 is the debut solo adventure for Chadwick Boseman as the titular Wakandan king who also happens to have an awesome cat-suit – and not the one you’re expecting. We’ll see Black Panther scratch into action in February next year.

The Avengers: Infinity War
This is the big one – while the original plan in place was for Infinity War to be split into two parts, it seems we’re just getting the one for now – and we may even see the Guardians of the Galaxy run into Tony Stark et al in the bargain. Expect to see the Avengers re-assemble in the new base in May 2018.

Ant-Man and The Wasp
More micro-sized escapades from Paul Rudd’s pint-sized ex-con – last seen blowing up to colossal proportions in last year’s Civil War – are on the way in July 2018.

Captain Marvel
The female Captain Marvel is set to stride onto screens in March 2019 – but how will she fit in with the other Avengers? It will remain to be seen – but we are certainly looking forward to finding out.

There are many other alleged movies in the pipeline – sequels to Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 have been mooted – meaning that, along with Star Wars, we could be making many a comic-based trip to the theater in the years to come. With DC really firing on all cylinders with the recent release of the brilliant Wonder Woman, there really will be an all-out fight for the comic movie crown – but who will be the victor, with Fox clinging onto the rights for the all-dominating Deadpool, who returns next year?
