Complainant hostile, Mukhtar acquitted in murder-bid case
Thursday, 18 May 2023 A Ghazipur court on Wednesday acquitted jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari in a 2009 attempt-to-murder case for insufficient evidence as even the complainant in the case had turned hostile. Mukhtar was accused under IPC sections 307 (murder attempt) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) in this case. He appeared before the court through videoconferencing from Banda jail
Mukhtar Ansari's body arrived in Ghazipur amidst stringent security measures, anticipating a large crowd for the final rites scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. Top police officials are closely monitoring the situation. Ansari's son alleges "slow poisoning" in his father's sudden demise, though the postmortem report indicates a heart attack as the cause of death.
