PM Modi pitches for UCC, slams opposition’s vote-bank politics
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday made a strong pitch for enactment of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and said the country could not have different laws for different categories of citizens, strengthening the indication that the government may be considering bringing a bill in Parliament dealing with issues of marriage, divorce, adoption and inheritance that would apply to all communities.
