Supreme Court to examine if ED can proceed in PMLA case sans predicate offence

Can the ED proceed in a money laundering case when there is no predicate offence or when the FIR in a predicate offence has been quashed? The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it would adjudicate the issue and asked ED to keep its “hands off” the accused, including state government officials, allegedly involved in the Chhattisgarh liquor scam.
