SpiceJet mix-up at IGIA: Srinagar-bound woman lands in Pune
Monday, 31 July 2023 A woman passenger booked to fly a SpiceJetDelhi-Srinagar flight Monday morning instead found herself in Pune. This mix-up happened as Wasifa Jan somehow boarded a Pune-bound SpiceJet flight without either the passenger or the airline realising the mistake. They realised the error after landing in Pune. “SpiceJet flew her back to Delhi on an IndiGo flight. And from here, she is being flown to Srinagar on a SpiceJet flight,” said sources.
The United Arab Emirates witnessed an unprecedented deluge, marking its most substantial rainfall on record since 1949. Described as a "historic weather event" by the state-run WAM news agency, the widespread downpour across the UAE is attributed to a combination of factors, including cloud seeding initiatives. Significant disruptions have been reported in flights from India to Dubai due to heavy rains causing flooding at the emirate's airport, one of the world's busiest. Air India, operating 72 weekly flights from multiple Indian cities to Dubai, alongside IndiGo, have cancelled their services on Wednesday. Other carriers, including Air India Express, Vistara, and SpiceJet, which also serve various Indian cities to Dubai routes, have been affected as well. Dubai, hosting a substantial Indian diaspora, sees these flight cancellations impacting travel plans and connections for many.
