Withdraw Assam Rifles, 40 Manipur MLAs write to PM

The tug of war over Assam Rifles' deployment in Manipur has led MLAs and ministers on either side of the divide to send memoranda to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with one group asking for the paramilitary force to be entirely replaced in the state and the other wanting it to stay. The political sparring was played out against the backdrop of continuing street protests by women activists against Assam Rifles' presence in the state.
