22 remote villages to get bridge on Sharda river

IndiaTimes Monday, 14 August 2023
In a first since Independence, 22 remote villages along the India-Nepal border in UP's Pilibhit district will soon benefit after a permanent bridge is built over the Sharda river. For decades, they've lived in hardship, especially during monsoon, due to lack of proper connectivity. According to officials, a plan has been sanctioned by state authorities. The concrete bridge -- 3.2km long and 7.5m wide -- is estimated to cost Rs 314 crore and may be ready in a couple of years.
