Uttarakhand HC frees Nepalese national framed in rape case

A division bench of Justices Manoj Tiwari and Pankaj Purohit of Uttarakhand HC set aside the judgment of a district court in sentencing a 21-year-old man to 11 years' rigorous imprisonment in a rape case. The court observed that the man, a Nepalese labourer, was falsely implicated only because he used to talk to a girl, which her brother did not like. The HC didn't rely on the forensic science laboratory report.
