Amid financial stress, Karnataka govt to buy 33 cars worth Rs 10 crore for its ministers

The Karnataka government is buying 33 MUVs, at Rs 30 lakh apiece, for its ministers which will cost the exchequer about Rs 10 crore. The Toyota Innova Hycross is said to be a fully ethanol-powered car equipped with a flex-fuel engine. The government has placed the order for ritzy rides even as it has tightened its fiscal belt to handle the burden of the Rs 30,000 crore required for poll guarantees. BJP called the government profligate.
