Arya Samaj school reopens after 33 years in Srinagar
Monday, 11 September 2023 The Arya Samaj Trust recently reopened a school in downtown Srinagar that had remained closed for 33 years since the outbreak of separatist militancy in Jammu and Kashmir in 1990. The school was later reclaimed by J&K unit Arya Samaj Trust chairman Arun Choudhary, along with the help of a local businessman.
Continuous heavy rainfall has battered numerous areas of Jammu and Kashmir, compelling the Union territory administration to take precautionary measures by closing schools across the Kashmir valley and Reasi district, as reported by officials. The persistent downpour in recent days has inflicted severe damage in various regions. Flash floods and landslides, triggered by the torrential rain, have affected parts of Poonch and northern Kashmir, resulting in damage to both public infrastructure and private property.
