Kerala HC steps in as parents fight over kid’s name

The high court in Kochi used its jurisdiction to select the name of a child caught in a dispute between her parents. The court believed that resolving the dispute between the parents would take time and, in the meantime, not having a name would not be in the child's best interests. Factors such as the child's welfare, cultural considerations, interests of the parents, and societal norms were considered by the court in choosing a name. The final name selected was 'Punya Balagangadharan Nair' or 'Punya B Nair'.
