Cue from past: Why Delhi is unlikely to face brunt of farm fires in much of October

IndiaTimes Friday, 6 October 2023
Experts predict that Delhi's air quality will oscillate between 'moderate' and 'poor' as the peak stubble burning season approaches. Although stubble burning in Punjab is currently limited, a combination of factors including wind speed, wind direction, and transport winds at a specific height are needed for the fire pollutants to significantly impact Delhi's air quality. The pollution particles have a short lifespan and settle on the ground within a day or two. Therefore, a delicate balance in wind conditions is necessary for intrusion into Delhi's atmosphere.
