Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, EPS face off over release of Muslim prisoners

Political parties in Tamil Nadu, except for the BJP, have demanded the early release of Muslim prisoners in the state. Law Minister S Regupathy has written a letter to Governor R N Ravi requesting the premature release of 49 life prisoners. The assembly witnessed a heated debate between Chief Minister M K Stalin and AIADMK's Edappadi K Palaniswami over the delay in releasing the Muslim prisoners. The AIADMK members walked out of the assembly in protest. A committee led by a retired judge of the Madras High Court had recommended the release of 264 life convicts on humanitarian grounds.
