After 4-month trial, man gets death for rape, murder of teen
Wednesday, 18 October 2023 A local court in Shravasti has sentenced a 23-year-old man, Sheel Pathak, to death for the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl. The crime was reported on June 4, and the trial lasted only four months. The victim's father alleged that Pathak lured the girl away on the pretense of buying her toffees. The police arrested Pathak on June 5 based on witness statements and electronic evidence. The forensic probe confirmed rape and strangulation, and a chargesheet was filed within 10 days.
