India to have world's second-largest metro system, asserts union minister Hardeep Puri
India is set to have the world's second-largest operational urban transport metro system within a year and a half, according to Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri. Puri highlighted the high-speed connectivity between cities, such as the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor, which will reduce travel time from 3 hours to 50-55 minutes. The development is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to transform regional connectivity in the country through the construction of new transport infrastructure.
