India sends medical aid, disaster relief material for people of Palestine
Sunday, 22 October 2023 India has sent humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine, which includes medical supplies and disaster relief material. The medical supplies consist of essential life-saving medicines and protective and surgical items to address emergency medical needs, including wound care. Additionally, the aid includes fluids and painkillers for immediate relief. The disaster relief material, weighing around 32 tons, comprises tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, basic sanitary utilities, and water purification tablets.
India on Sunday sent humanitarian aid to strife-torn Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amid the war between Hamas and Israel. Nearly 6.5 tonnes of medical aid and 32 tonnes of disaster relief material have been sent to Palestine, which will reach the country via Egypt.

Spain denied port access to a Danish ship carrying 27 tons of explosives from Chennai to Haifa, Israel, citing the need for peace in the Middle East over more weapons. Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares emphasized this new policy amid the ongoing Gaza conflict, which began on October 7. Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan made a dramatic statement at the United Nations General Assembly by tearing up the UN Charter in protest just before the assembly passed a resolution supporting full membership for Palestine. The resolution, which received overwhelming support with 143 votes in favour, asked the Security Council to grant full membership to Palestine, currently holding observer status at the UN. Twenty-five countries abstained from the vote, while nine, including the United States and Israel, voted against it. Erdan criticised the resolution as a "clear violation" of the UN Charter and accused it of circumventing the US veto in the Security Council. He described his actions as a symbolic reflection of the assembly's disregard for the principles outlined in the UN Charter.
