Thursday, 26 October 2023 Jailed mafia don-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari was on Thursday pronounced guilty in a Gangsters Act case by a Ghazipur district court (MP-MLA), reports Rajeev Dikshit. The quantum of punishment for the former MLA and another accused Sonu Yadav will be pronounced on Friday. This is Ansari's sixth conviction since September 2022. He was booked under the Gangsters Act in 2010 in connection with the murder of a teacher, Kapil Deo Singh, in the district in 2009, and an attempt to murder complaint lodged by one Meer Hasan.
Mukhtar Ansari's body arrived in Ghazipur amidst stringent security measures, anticipating a large crowd for the final rites scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. Top police officials are closely monitoring the situation. Ansari's son alleges "slow poisoning" in his father's sudden demise, though the postmortem report indicates a heart attack as the cause of death.
