Pradeep Sangwan, who cleans up the hills, one trek at a time

Pradeep Sangwan, founder of non-profit organization Healing Himalayas, leads a team of volunteers in cleaning up mountains of garbage left by tourists in the Shimla hill town. The group collects 90 bags of non-recyclable waste, which are then sent to a local facility to be converted into fuel for a cement plant. Sangwan's team also focuses on waste management, establishing material recycling facilities in multiple locations in Himachal Pradesh. The organization has been recognized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has cleaned over 700 tons of waste so far.
