The incident in question involved the overshooting of trains, with 08532 Visakhapatnam-Palasa passengers colliding with 08504 Visakhapatnam-Rayagada. This collision resulted in the involvement of three coaches and claimed the lives of approximately 14 individuals, while injuring 30 more. The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Waltair Division, Saurabh Prasad, was on-site within half an hour of the incident, kickstarting immediate rescue operations.
