Maharashtra BJP MLA gets 6-month jail for ’17 assault of BMC team, cops

Sion-Koliwada MLA Captain R Tamil Selvan and four others have been convicted by a special court for unlawful assembly, rioting, and assaulting BMC officials and police personnel during a protest in Mumbai in 2017. They were sentenced to six months in jail, but the sentence was suspended after they filed an appeal. They were also fined Rs 13,500 each. The court's first conviction comes after a female police officer testified about the violence and injuries caused by the mob led by Selvan.
