Mamata Banerjee didn't disrespect National Anthem: Mumbai court

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 31 October 2023
A magistrate's court in Mumbai has dismissed a complaint filed against West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, alleging that she disrespected the National Anthem. The court ruled that no case was made against her, as she was reciting the National Anthem, and therefore there was no violation. The complainant, a BJP member, claimed that Banerjee sang the National Anthem in a sitting position and abruptly stopped singing. However, the court found that the complainant was not present at the event and had no personal knowledge of it. This decision comes after a previous summons issued to Banerjee was set aside by a special court.
