Government issues draft methodologies for individuals, local bodies, cooperatives to earn green credits

Environment ministry has released two draft methodologies for generating green credits through water harvesting and tree plantation projects. The drafts list appropriate structures and species for actions by individuals, cooperatives, and local bodies. The green credits will be distributed based on specified calculations and physical verification. The Green Credit Programme (GCP) aims to incentivize voluntary environmental actions and is part of India's Mission LiFE. Individuals and entities will need to register their activities through a dedicated app/website to obtain green credits.
