Congress names 23 in 6th list, controversial mantri out

IndiaTimes Saturday, 4 November 2023
Congress released its sixth list of 23 candidates late Saturday for the Rajasthan polls, dropping controversial minister Mahesh Joshi. With this, the party has declared nominees for 179 of the 200 seats in the state. Joshi was seeking a ticket from Jaipur's Hawa Mahal seat. He has been replaced by Congress city chief R R Tiwari. Tiwari, though, had filed his papers earlier in the day, even before the official list was issued. BJP has fielded a preacher, Balmukund Acharya, from this seat.

LS Polls 2024: Congress manifesto launch | Priyanka Gandhi, Kharge slam BJP, Modi | Oneindia News

Top Congress leaders, including the party president Mallikarjun Kharge, former president Sonia Gandhi, held a rally in Jaipur on Saturday, April 6, to publicly launch its election manifesto 'Nyay Patra'. The Jaipur public rally comes a day after the Congress released its manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls promising a legal guarantee for MSP, and passing a constitutional amendment to raise the 50 per cent cap on reservations for SCs, STs and OBCs among others. The release of the manifesto 'Nyay Patra' was announced by Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, expressing happiness and pride in her mother Sonia Gandhi's presence in Rajasthan after becoming a member of the Rajya Sabha. Unemployment, claimed to be at its peak, was criticised, with allegations made against the BJP and Modi government for failing to address the issue adequately. The Agniveer scheme, accused of shattering people's hopes, was mentioned, along with concerns raised about leaked papers in various states and the ongoing protests by farmers, suggesting that PM Modi is unwilling to heed their grievances.
