Delhi’s air quality at ‘severe plus’, stage IV of GRAP implemented
Monday, 6 November 2023 Delhi's air quality remained 'severe' for the fourth consecutive day, with the city registering the highest air quality index (AQI) in the country. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) announced measures under stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan, including restrictions on vehicles and a ban on construction activities. Stubble burning incidents in neighboring states also crossed 3,000, contributing to the deteriorating air quality. The air quality is expected to remain in the 'severe' category until November 8. Unfavorable meteorological conditions and high incidents of farm fires are the major causes of the spike in AQI.
