UP leaders’ ‘photo-op’ with slain Captain’s mom draws flak

Videos of politicians posing with a cheque for a photo-op while Captain Shubham Gupta's mother sobbed and pleaded for her son's return drew widespread criticism. UP cabinet minister Yogendra Upadhyay and Agra Cantt MLA GS Dharmesh were among those captured in the photos. Opposition parties, including AAP MP Raghav Chadha and Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, condemned the insensitivity of the politicians. The official handles of Congress and Samajwadi Party also expressed their disapproval. Captain Shubham Gupta, who was killed in an encounter in J&K, was laid to rest with full military honors in his paternal village, Kuan Kheda.
