Tuesday, 28 November 2023 J&K Police arrests 7 veterinary students from Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science & Technology in Srinagar for celebrating India's defeat in the ICC World Cup final. The arrest is not just for pro-Pakistan sloganeering but also for intimidating those who disagree with them. The students are charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act along with IPC sections 505 (mischief in public) and 506 (criminal intimidation). The police clarify that the aim is to terrorize others with pro-India feelings or anti-Pakistan sentiments.
Continuous heavy rainfall has battered numerous areas of Jammu and Kashmir, compelling the Union territory administration to take precautionary measures by closing schools across the Kashmir valley and Reasi district, as reported by officials. The persistent downpour in recent days has inflicted severe damage in various regions. Flash floods and landslides, triggered by the torrential rain, have affected parts of Poonch and northern Kashmir, resulting in damage to both public infrastructure and private property.
