Telangana BJP MLAs skip oath administered by Owaisi
Saturday, 9 December 2023 BJP MLAs boycotted the oath-taking ceremony in the Telangana assembly to protest AIMIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi being made the Pro-tem speaker. They accused Congress of appeasement politics and alleged that the state government violated the norms in appointing the Pro-tem speaker. The BJP MLAs submitted a representation at Raj Bhavan, urging the government to set aside the appointment and withhold the process. Telangana BJP state chief G Kishan Reddy alleged a secret understanding between Congress and AIMIM.
BJP's Navneet Kaur Rana sparks uproar with a rebuttal to AIMIM's Akbaruddin Owaisi's old statement, prompting a sharp response from Asaduddin Owaisi. Referring to Akbaruddin's call for police withdrawal, Rana challenges the Owaisi brothers, implying their vulnerability without police protection. In retaliation, Owaisi dismisses Rana's bravado, challenging her and BJP to act on their threats, asserting AIMIM's readiness.
