FM meets delegation of MSMEs impacted by Cyclone Michaung, assures help
Wednesday, 13 December 2023 Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday met a delegation of the industry body Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturing Association (AIEMA) over the losses suffered by their members due to Cyclone Michaung recently. The recent cyclone impacted the coastal part of Southern India, including Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. During the meeting, officials of the Department of Financial Services were also present. "The Union Finance Minister assured the delegation that the Central Government would take all necessary steps to ensure speedy disbursal of eligible insurance claims," it said.

Polling in 102 parliamentary seats across 21 states and Union Territories in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections commenced at 7 am on April 19 and ended at 6 pm. Over 102 parliamentary constituencies in 21 states and union territories headed to the polling booth on Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. West Bengal recorded the highest turnout till 5 PM at 77.57 per cent, followed by Tripura at 76.10 per cent. Voter turnout in Assam stood at 70.77 per cent, while Manipur recorded a voter turnout of 68.58 per cent till 5 PM.
