The Gujarat high court has ordered the installation of CCTV cameras in its registry, courtrooms, and other tribunals by January 15, 2024. The decision came after a lawyer was found tampering with the case listing process, and the court suspected the involvement of a court staffer. The lawyer, Dharmesh J Gurjar, had been appointed as a court commissioner by a debt recovery tribunal but was charged with demanding a bribe. Justice Sandeep Bhatt conducted an inquiry and found that Gurjar's case had been removed from the list to avoid an immediate hearing.
