3 decades on, HC junks dowry death acquittals, calls for a fresh order

IndiaTimes Friday, 15 December 2023
Allahabad HC overturns acquittal in the alleged dowry death case of Anita, a young woman who died under mysterious circumstances in her matrimonial home. The trial court misread the evidence and passed the acquittal order 25 years ago. Traces of alcohol and insecticide were found in Anita's body, along with contusions, indicating an unnatural death. The HC orders the trial court to issue a fresh order based on the evidence and observations made in this judgment.
