An elderly couple with valid first AC tickets faced humiliation and were fined Rs 22,300 onboard Rajdhani Express. The couple's son sued the chief booking officer of South Western Railway (SWR) and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) for the incident. A consumer court ordered Rs 30,000 compensation to the couple, refund of the fine amount, and Rs 10,000 towards litigation expenses. The SWR officials failed to appear in court, while IRCTC claimed they are not involved in levying penalties.
