Maharashtra to alter minimum age to enter school to 3 yrs from 2024

IndiaTimes Friday, 22 December 2023
Admission norms in Maharashtra will be updated to align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which mandates that children should be six years old when entering Class I. The new policy, being developed in collaboration with the women and child development ministry, will require children to be three years old when starting school. Educationists have been advocating for this change, as some schools currently admit children as young as 30 months to nursery. The updated policy is expected to be implemented for the 2024-25 academic year.
