ED questions Congress MP Karti in Chinese visa case

IndiaTimes Saturday, 23 December 2023
Congress MP from Sivaganga appeared before ED for questioning in a money laundering case linked to issuance of visa to Chinese nationals in 2011, allegedly in exchange of a bribe. Entry permits were issued in violation of rules when his father was the Union home minister. Karti called the case "most bogus" and stated that he had appeared before the agency multiple times. His lawyers have filed a 100-page response to the summons. The investigation is based on a CBI FIR that also implicates Karti's close associate for receiving kickbacks from a Vedanta Group company.
