Youth gets 20 years’ RI for abducting, marrying minor in Karnataka

A special court for Pocso cases found a 22-year-old youth named Venkatesh guilty of abducting a minor girl twice and coercing her into marriage during the second abduction. The court sentenced Venkatesh to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 41,000. The charges included violations under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), such as Section 363 (Punishment for kidnapping), Section 366 (Kidnapping, abducting, or inducing a woman to compel her to marry, etc.), Section 376 (Punishment for rape), and provisions under the Pocso Act of 2012.
