Seers need to play the role of ombudsmen, says Defence minister Rajnath Singh

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, speaking in Haridwar, praised the significant contributions of Indian sanyasis (ascetics) to the country's progress and cultural preservation. Singh highlighted the historical role of seers as ombudsmen for the state and emphasized the importance of maintaining this role in modern times. He participated in an event celebrating the 25-year tenure of Juna Akhara's Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri. Singh acknowledged novelist Bankim Chandra Chatterjee for sowing the seed of nationalism by depicting sanyasis' revolt against British rule.
