Ahmedabad: Medical professor cheated out of Rs 6 lakh in bill fraud

A professor named Bela Patel from Chandkheda filed a complaint with Cybercrime police. She received a message about electricity disconnection and contacted the "electricity officer". Following his instructions in a WhatsApp video call, she downloaded the electricity company's app and made a payment of Rs 26 twice. Cybercriminals gained access to her phone and withdrew Rs 30,000 from her savings account. They also took out two personal loans, resulting in a total loss of Rs 6.02 lakh. A complaint has been registered under the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act.
