Congress suspends rape-accused Rajasthan ex-MLA as obscene clips go viral

Congress suspended former Barmer MLA Mewaram Jain, accused in gang rape case, after obscene video clips featuring him went viral. Case involves Jain and his close aide Ramswaroop Acharya, against whom a woman lodged a complaint alleging rape, sexual assault, and harassment. The woman also accused Jain, Ramswaroop, and six others, including a Rajasthan Police Service officer, of ensnaring her in a false case. BJP criticized the previous Congress government for the rise in atrocities against women.
