SC sets aside Bombay high court order, allows raped minor to end 30-week pregnancy

IndiaTimes Monday, 22 April 2024 ()
Utilizing its authority granted by Article 142 of the Constitution, on Monday, the Supreme Court authorized the termination of a 14-year-old girl's 30-week-old pregnancy, reportedly resulting from sexual assault. This decision followed the recommendation of a medical board, which concluded that while terminating the pregnancy at this stage posed risks, allowing it to continue to full term posed a greater threat to the minor's life.
