French riots spread in third night of unrest over police shooting
Friday, 30 June 2023 Riots continue to spread across major cities in France for the third consecutive night following the deadly police shooting of a teenager of Algerian and Moroccan descent. Despite the deployment of 40,000 police officers, the government's appeals to de-escalate the violence have had little effect. Speaking at a meeting with ministers in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron says that overnight clashes in which cars were set ablaze and police attacked with fireworks were "unjustifiable". The unrest comes after the police killing of a teenager.
