North Korea plans satellite launch as Seoul, US hold drills
Tuesday, 22 August 2023 North Korea has announced plans to launch another satellite, just three months after its last attempt failed. The launch, scheduled between August 24 and 31, has prompted condemnation from Tokyo and Seoul, who consider it to be a violation of UN sanctions. Japan has mobilized its missile defense system in case the satellite lands in their territory. South Korea has called the launch an "illegal act" and vowed to respond sternly. North Korea's announcement comes shortly after discussions on North Korea's nuclear threats at Camp David.
