Sunday, 3 September 2023 President Joe Biden toured the areas affected by Hurricane Idalia in Florida, but notably absent was Gov. Ron DeSantis, who declined to join Biden. The president assured Floridians of the federal government's support and willingness to provide assistance. DeSantis' absence did not seem to concern residents and officials, and the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency stated that there were no concerns over any impact to the communities visited by Biden.
