Trump accused of reaping $1bn from fraud as New York civil trial starts

Former President Donald Trump's fraud lawsuit began on Monday, with New York state lawyers accusing him of providing banks and insurers with inaccurate financial information for a decade. They claim he did this to obtain better loan terms and lower insurance premiums, resulting in over $1 billion of illegal financial benefits. Trump's lawyer countered by stating that his financials were legal and there was no intent to defraud.
