Russia demands an apology after Cyprus arrests a Russian journalist reportedly for security reasons

Cyprus has arrested a Russian journalist for "security reasons" and plans to deport him after revoking his residency permit. The Russian Foreign Ministry has demanded a formal apology from Cyprus. Cyprus authorities have denied allegations of excessive force during the arrest, stating that the journalist had resisted police officers. Russian Foreign Ministry accused "Western intelligence services" of being behind the arrest and has called for an official apology from Cyprus.
