Myanmar's top court declines to hear Suu Kyi's special appeals in abuse of power and bribery cases

Myanmar's Supreme Court has rejected appeals from ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi against her convictions in six corruption cases. Suu Kyi, who was arrested in February 2021, is currently serving prison sentences totaling 27 years. The charges have been contested by Suu Kyi and her lawyers, who argue that they are false and politically motivated.
