US House's Scalise, Jordan locked in two-way speaker race, for now

IndiaTimes Sunday, 8 October 2023
Steve Scalise and Jim Jordan are in a two-way race to lead the US House of Representatives after Kevin McCarthy's ouster, but the election outcome is uncertain. Scalise has raised money and built relationships across the party, while Jordan is a right-wing firebrand and a leading defender of Donald Trump. Trump endorsed Jordan, but it is unclear how much influence that will have. Both candidates have secured roughly two dozen endorsements so far.
