Desperate people dig out dead and injured from earthquakes that killed over 2,000 in Afghanistan

A powerful earthquake in western Afghanistan has killed at least 2,000 people and left entire villages flattened. Desperate rescue efforts are underway, with locals using their bare hands and shovels to dig through the rubble. The earthquake, which had a magnitude of 6.3, struck a densely populated area near the city of Herat, followed by strong aftershocks. The death toll is expected to rise as many people are still trapped under the debris.
