Armed attacks in Mexico leave 24 dead, including at least 12 police

Three separate armed attacks in Mexico on Monday resulted in the deaths of at least 24 people, including police officers. In the deadliest incident, a security patrol was targeted in Guerrero state, leaving 13 people dead. Another attack in Michoacan left four civilians and a policeman dead. A gunfight between alleged drug dealers in Puebla state resulted in at least six deaths. Mexico has been plagued by drug-related violence, with over 420,000 murders since 2006. Guerrero and Michoacan are particularly violent areas.
