Hong Kong drops gun charge against US state senator Jeff Wilson
Monday, 30 October 2023 US state senator, Jeff Wilson, had charges dropped against him in Hong Kong after he agreed to a good behaviour order to settle the case. Wilson was arrested for having an unloaded pistol in his carry-on luggage during a flight to Hong Kong. He stated that it was an "honest mistake" and that he had reported the issue to customs officials. Wilson apologized for his mistake and said that the Chinese authorities conducted themselves professionally. Wilson was not required to enter a plea, though breaching the court order would result in a HK$2,000 ($255) fine.
